ComposiMold is one of the most common materials people are using for making reusable Picky Pads. ComposiMold is being used around the world for Picky Pads. It's been very popular. People are using ComposiMold because it's reusable, simple to use, and gives the Picky Pad maker the ability to make it the way they want with different colors, scents, and designs. We have two kinds of ComposiMold used for Picky Pads. The ComposiMold Original and the Flex. Some people like either one. It seems to be about 50/50, maybe a bit more people using the ComposiMold Original. The Flex is softer, more flexible than the Original. Some people prefer a bit firmer to make it more challenging while others like the more flexible version.
Why is ComposiMold Good For Picky Pads?
- Reusable and easy to melt/reuse for hundreds of repeats
- Transparent to easily add colorants using food coloring, water based pigments, or powders
- Food contact safe
- Low cost-even more low cost the more you re-use it
So the first step is to try the two different kinds of ComposiMold and make a few Picky Pads with them. You will need the two ComposiMold types, some beads, and a mold. If you don't have one of the silicone round molds, just use a plastic cup, muffin tin, or even a small sauce pan. (I don't recommend a glass cup because of the risk of breaking the glass), and a stir stick (fork or spoon)
To make the Picky Pads. Add the beads into a container (however many you want...usually just fill the mold size). Melt the ComposiMold with a microwave, double boiler, chocolate melter, or very carefully in your oven (microwave is the best option). Do not overheat the ComposiMold...instructions are included, so it's easy... Pour the ComposiMold over the beads. Stir the ComposiMold around the beads and let them settle, then let the ComposiMold cool by leaving it out or placing it in the freezer or refrigerator. You can watch how simple the process is ( https://youtu.be/yiilN1GvVqE?si=jeBqpIeI_yL31HeB )
After cool, pull out the Picky Pad. And use the pad by picking out the beads with your fingers. After you're done, repeat the process of making a new picky pad. You can do this as many times as you want. You can also add pigments, colorants, other shapes, etc. to make your Pick Pads unique.
What does it cost to make a reusable Picky Pad?
The typical Picky Pad (in the small round 4 inch circles) uses about 1.5 to 2 ounces of ComposiMold. Plus the beads and the mold. So from a small 10 ounce ComposiMold Original ($20) you can get about 5 Picky Pads.
We also have 3 pounds of the ComposiMold Original in Cube form.
The smallest ComposiMold Flex is the 20 ounce Flex
We also have wholesale quantities available. 25 pounds of ComposiMold cost $350. 50 pounds costs $675.
